Role Description

Are you a native German speaker with a deep understanding of local food and solid English comprehension? Welo Data is seeking contributors for a global food delivery project. In this freelance role, you will review restaurant menu items written in German and classify them using a standardized taxonomy in Americanized English. Your cultural knowledge and linguistic skills will directly help enhance food category recognition across diverse global markets.

What You Will Do

• Read & Review: Analyze each menu item's name, category, and description written in German.
• Confirm Context: Check the item photo (if available) to visually verify the food type.
• Classify (Dish Label): Assign the most accurate Dish Label from an English-language taxonomy dropdown using keywords like "pasta" or "grilled chicken".
• Categorize (Course Label): Select the appropriate Course Label in English (e.g., Appetizer, Main Course, Side Dish, Dessert, Beverage, Other).
• Add Contextual Notes: Provide a brief note for any items that seem unclear, ambiguous, or unusual to ensure no row is left blank.

Qualifications

• Native German speaker currently based in Germany.
• Strong ability to confidently navigate and select from taxonomy options written in Americanized English.
• Familiarity with German restaurant menus and local cuisine terminology.
• Comfortable using a web browser for structured tasks.
• A commitment to providing consistent, accurate, and high-quality work.
• Ability to complete the assignment within 1–2 business days after receiving access.

• Duration: 1–2 hours total (up to a maximum of 10 hours)

• Location: Remote (Must be based in Germany)

• Pay Rate: 20.00 $ (per hour)
