Role Description

The Field Superintendent is the company's eyes and ears on the ground. You will manage installation crews across the Southeast, acting as the primary liaison between the manufacturing plant, the general contractor, and the client. This role requires a leader who can solve spatial problems in real-time, manage labor, and maintain strict quality control across a variety of commercial environments. This role can be remote for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Quality Control with Company and AWI Standards
• Manage labor hours to stay within budgeted installation timelines.
• Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols (OSHA) and company policies on all job sites.
• Review architectural drawings, shop drawings, and installation plans thoroughly prior to arrival.
• Supervise, direct, and mentor installation crews (carpenters, finishers, and helpers) of varying sizes.
• Travel to project sites throughout the Southeast; oversee one primary project at a time (duration: 1–3 months).
• Coordinate daily work schedules, assign tasks, and ensure crew members have the necessary materials, tools, and drawings to execute the scope.
• Collaborate with the General Contractor (GC), architects, interior designers, and other trades (MEP, drywall, flooring, AV) to sequence work efficiently and avoid conflicts.
• Troubleshoot installation challenges regarding complex millwork (curved walls, large panels, veneer matching) and casework (tight clearances, out-of-square openings, MEP conflicts).

Requirements

• Travel: This position requires extensive travel throughout the Southeast (e.g., FL, GA, NC, SC, TN, AL, TX). Projects typically last 1 to 3 months each, with the potential for back-to-back assignments. Travel, lodging, and per diem are fully covered by the company.
• Familiarity with a wide range of casework construction types (framed, frameless, 32mm system) and commercial hardware (continuous hinges, heavy-duty slides, ADA-compliant pulls).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory, lead carpenter, or Foreman role overseeing installation crews on commercial job sites.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial architectural millwork installation and commercial casework.
• Must have personal reliable transportation to travel to sites (flights/rental cars provided for longer distances).
• Proficiency with common job-site software (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid, or Microsoft Office) is a plus.
• Proven track record of managing installation crews on commercial projects valued at $500k+.
