Role Description

Watchmaker Genomics (WMG) is inviting applications for the full-time position of Senior Field Applications Scientist / Field Applications Scientist, North America (remote), with preference for candidates based in the West Coast United States. This position reports to the Associate Director, Field and Automation Support and will be mainly responsible for providing field technical support for Watchmaker’s Next-Gen Sequencing (NGS) and precision enzyme product portfolios.

• Provide pre- and post-sales technical and scientific support, including presenting technical content to customers.
• Co-travel with sales team members and attend/present at conferences.
• Approximately up to 75% travel within the US (potential for some international travel).
• Maintain expert-level knowledge of current and new NGS products and workflows.
• Provide customer feedback on WMG products and identify unmet customer needs.

Qualifications

• MSc in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related field.
• 4+ years experience within NGS field applications; candidates with 8+ years may be considered at the Senior level.
• Advanced knowledge of experimental design, applications/assay development, NGS library preparation, PCR, qPCR, and troubleshooting.
• Strong customer consultative skills and exceptional customer engagement.
• Experience with CRM software (particularly Salesforce.com) is highly desirable.

Requirements

• Relevant experience providing field-based applications support for NGS experiments and/or advanced genomics applications.
• Ability to travel up to 75% of the time.
• Proactive approach with a can-do attitude and strong desire to improve and learn.
• Ability to demonstrate high standard experience to customers and excel in troubleshooting.
• Courage to initiate discussions with customers to challenge the current "status quo".

Benefits

• Base compensation for the Field Applications Scientist role starts at $100,000 - $130,000.
• Base compensation for the Senior Field Applications Scientist role starts at $120,000 - $150,000 + bonus + equity.
