Role Description

The Field Application Scientist (FAS) is a customer-facing technical expert responsible for providing customer training, technical and application support, and pre-sales support for the HID core product portfolio across Western North America.

• Deliver customer training on HID products, applications, and workflows through on-site and remote training sessions.
• Provide technical and application support, including troubleshooting customer workflows, technical inquiries, and product performance issues.
• Support pre-sales activities through technical consultation, product demonstrations, presentations, and workflow discussions with prospective customers.
• Provide post-sales application support to help customers successfully implement, adopt, and optimize HID technologies.
• Partner with Sales and other commercial colleagues to provide scientific and technical expertise throughout the customer lifecycle.
• Collaborate with Technical Support, Service, Product Management, and other internal teams to resolve customer needs and improve the customer experience.
• Maintain current knowledge of HID products, applications, workflows, and relevant developments in forensic science and human identification.
• Document customer activities and provide relevant field and customer feedback to internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in forensic science, molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline required.
• 5+ years of experience, or 3 years with an advanced degree, in forensic DNA workflows or a related technical role, including hands-on laboratory experience.
• Demonstrated experience with forensic DNA instrumentation, chemistries, and analysis software.
• Strong technical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to effectively address complex scientific, application, and workflow challenges.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex scientific and technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Strong customer-facing, presentation, and training skills.
• Ability to independently manage multiple customer priorities while working effectively in a remote, field-based environment.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to approximately 70%.
• Residence in California, Arizona, Washington, Oregon, or Nevada.

Requirements

• Previous experience providing customer training, technical support, applications support, or scientific field support.
• Experience supporting pre-sales activities, including technical presentations, product demonstrations, and customer workflow consultations.
• Experience working directly with forensic laboratories, government laboratories, law enforcement agencies, or similar customer environments.
• Familiarity with HID products, technologies, and workflows.
