Role Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to support our commercial flooring operations. This role will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive project estimates using RFMS software, working closely with the preconstruction and project management teams. The ideal candidate has prior experience in flooring or construction estimating and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

• Perform detailed material takeoffs using RFMS based on architectural drawings, finish schedules, and specifications.
• Review full project plan sets (A, F, RCP, elevations) and extract all flooring-related scope.
• Digitize and trace floorplans in RFMS to calculate:
  • Net and gross square footage
  • Wall base (linear feet)
  • Transitions, reducers, and trims
• Analyze flooring scope across multiple material types:
  • Carpet tile
  • Broadloom
  • LVT / vinyl plank
  • Sheet vinyl
  • Rubber
  • Tile
  • Hardwood (if applicable)

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Estimator in flooring or construction industry.
• Hands-on experience with RFMS (or similar tools like Measure Square).
• Strong understanding of takeoffs, materials, and labor costing.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to work during U.S. business hours.

Requirements

• Identify floor preparation requirements, including:
  • Demo / removal of existing flooring
  • Subfloor prep, leveling, patching
  • Moisture mitigation or special conditions
• Calculate accurate material quantities, factoring:
  • Waste factors
  • Pattern repeats (especially for carpet)
  • Roll widths and layout optimization
• Build complete takeoff reports and ensure all scope is captured before pricing.
• Assist in defining installation scope and labor assumptions.
• Review tender documents, specs, and bid packages for scope completeness.
• Identify missing or conflicting information and submit RFIs (Requests for Information).
• Ensure estimates are aligned with:
  • Project scope
  • Timeline requirements
  • Client expectations
• Support bid submission by delivering accurate takeoffs and scope breakdowns.
• Revise estimates based on addendums, scope changes, or value engineering.
• Work closely with:
  • Project Managers
  • Sales / Estimating team
  • Procurement / Purchasing
• Communicate discrepancies, risks, and scope gaps early.
• Maintain organized estimate files and documentation for each project.
• Ensure all takeoffs are completed on time and at high volume (multiple bids per week).
