Role Description

Merjent, Inc. (Merjent) is seeking an Environmental Consultant in Texas. In this full-time position, the Environmental Consultant will support environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, and environmental review for energy infrastructure projects, with a primary focus on Texas and opportunities to support projects in other regions where Merjent's clients operate.

• Support a variety of projects, including natural gas, electric transmission, and other energy-related developments.
• Coordinate permit acquisitions, conduct environmental analyses, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Preference for candidates located in Texas, particularly within a one-hour drive of Houston.
• This is a full-time benefits eligible opportunity that can be based remotely in Texas.
• Anticipated annual salary is between $79,400 and $136,500, depending upon qualifications and experience.
• This position is also bonus eligible.

Qualifications

• B.A. or B.S. in environmental science, environmental studies, environmental engineering, water resources, geology, biology, natural resources, or a closely related field.
• 3-5 years of environmental permitting experience, preferably in the energy industry.
• 3-5 years of experience or familiarity with permitting processes through various regulatory agencies.
• 1-2 years of experience or familiarity with project management and/or deputy project management preferred.
• Strong initiative-taker with excellent organizational, problem-solving, and task management skills.
• Ability to adapt quickly and work well under pressure, both in large teams and one-on-one.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to analyze, organize, and interpret data from multiple sources.
• Willing to travel domestically as needed (5-50%), including for field work.

Requirements

• Conduct biological field surveys and associated internal and external reporting.
• Conduct stormwater inspections and necessary reporting.
• Support administrative functions as needed, including document production and technical editing of large, detailed documents.
• Work with internal project and task managers and external clients in a manner consistent with Merjent's reputation for excellence.
