[Hiring] Energy Market Analyst @Powerline

Role Description

We are looking for someone with deep experience in electricity market operations or trading who is excited to apply their expertise to guide our customers through the sales, onboarding, and operations with our products while helping our technical teams build the next generation of energy software.

The ideal candidate is based in Europe (remote OK) and is able to travel occasionally for team and customer meetings.

As an Energy Markets Analyst, you will bring your real-world experience from electricity markets to enable our customers to gain the most value out of the product suite as well as helping shape how Powerline’s products analyze and optimize energy assets.

In this customer-centric role, you will:

• Understand the balance our customers navigate between risk and reward.
• Work closely with traders, asset operators, and renewable developers to analyze market outcomes, evaluate trading and development strategies, and deliver recommendations that improve the value our solutions provide to our clients.
• Collaborate closely with our engineering team to help build our client-focused development roadmap.

This role sits at the intersection of electricity markets, customers, and product development, helping translate real-world trading and operational workflows into better software and better outcomes for our customers.

Qualifications

• Experience working in the Great Britain (NESO, EPEX, etc.) and/or other European Energy Markets; ideally in a role focused on spot analysis/trading, asset optimization, or control room operations.
• Strong understanding of power market fundamentals, including dispatch dynamics, bidding strategies, and revenue drivers for energy assets.
• Experience analyzing large energy datasets and extracting insights that support trading, operational, or commercial decisions.
• Comfort working with data analysis using SQL, Python, or similar analytics tools.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to clearly communicate complex market insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical rigor.
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments.

Requirements

• Experience trading or optimizing battery storage assets or renewable portfolios.
• Experience building dashboards, automated reports, or market analytics tools.
• Familiarity with Python or other scripting languages for data analysis.
