Role Description

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Estimator to support its commercial electrical projects across Hawaii. This role is ideal for someone who can read electrical plans, perform accurate takeoffs, prepare bid summaries, and help the team price projects efficiently and competitively. The Electrical Estimator will work closely with project managers, operations, and leadership to support bids, change orders, material costing, and project estimating needs.

• Electrical Takeoffs & Estimating
  • Review electrical drawings, specifications, and project documents.
  • Perform detailed takeoffs for commercial electrical scopes.
  • Quantify materials such as conduit, wire, cable, lighting fixtures, panels, breakers, devices, switchgear, disconnects, controls, and related components.
  • Prepare accurate labor and material estimates based on project requirements.
  • Identify scope gaps, drawing conflicts, missing details, and potential risks.
  • Support pricing for base bids, alternates, add-ons, and value engineering options.
  • Assist in preparing bid summaries, estimate sheets, and proposal support documents.
• Commercial Project Support
  • Estimate electrical work for commercial construction, renovations, tenant improvements, and retrofit projects.
  • Support projects involving lighting, power distribution, panels, branch circuits, low-voltage coordination, generators, and general commercial electrical systems.
  • Coordinate with internal project managers to clarify scope and assumptions.
  • Help organize plans, bid documents, vendor quotes, and project information.
  • Review subcontractor or supplier quotes when needed.
  • Assist with project handoff from estimating to operations.
• Change Orders & Cost Support
  • Prepare takeoffs and pricing for change orders.
  • Review revised drawings, updated scopes, and field changes.
  • Track changes in quantities, materials, and labor requirements.
  • Help document assumptions, exclusions, and pricing notes.
  • Support project managers with quick-turn estimates and cost breakdowns.
• Communication & Coordination
  • Communicate clearly with project managers, suppliers, vendors, and internal team members.
  • Ask good questions when plans or specifications are unclear.
  • Maintain organized estimate files, notes, and supporting documents.
  • Provide timely updates on estimate progress and pending information.
  • Work independently while staying aligned with the team’s deadlines and priorities.

Qualifications

• Experience as an Electrical Estimator, Electrical Quantity Surveyor, Electrical Engineer, or similar role.
• Strong background in commercial electrical construction estimating.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical plans, specifications, schedules, and single-line diagrams.
• Experience performing electrical material takeoffs and labor estimates.
• Familiarity with commercial electrical systems, lighting, power, panels, conduits, wiring, and devices.
• Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work remotely and manage deadlines with minimal supervision.

Requirements

• Preferred experience estimating U.S. commercial electrical projects.
• Familiarity with NEC standards or U.S. electrical construction practices.
• Experience with estimating software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Accubid, McCormick, Trimble, Procore, or similar tools.
• Experience with commercial tenant improvements, hospitality, retail, office, multifamily, or public works projects.
• Experience supporting change orders, RFIs, submittals, or project coordination.
• Background working with electrical contractors, MEP firms, or general contractors.

This person does not need to be based in Hawaii, but should be able to work closely with the local team and understand that final pricing, code compliance, and field decisions may be reviewed by licensed local professionals.
