Role Description

Lead the development and implementation of access and reimbursement strategies and tactics to ensure optimal access to and coverage for BI´s emerging portfolio of specialty products and services for patients, providers, and payers. This team works at the local level to identify and resolve reimbursement and access challenges through various actions. This position is remote.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and effectively communicate a thorough understanding of the complex and rapidly evolving factors influencing reimbursement/patient access to products in the US specialty market.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in other groups in Market Access, Marketing, Sales, HEOR, MAPOR, Analytics & Insights, CDMA, DRA, Patient Advocacy/Professional Relations, Government Affairs/Policy and plans and gain appropriate approvals for implementation.
  • Hire, train, and develop staff (3 direct reports: Director Reimbursement Access, 2-3 Director, Area Reimbursement, and 20 Area Reimbursement Managers).
  • Work with Payor Sales, HEOR, FBM, Trade, Specialty Sales, and Specialty Strategic Accounts colleagues to coordinate activities of Specialty Area Reimbursement Managers with other customer facing BI teams.
  • Manage department budget and contribute to achievement of specialty LTF goals.
  • Co-lead the development with marketing teams and lead the implementation of BI´s ´best in class´ Specialty Access and Reimbursement Plan.
  • Monitor and benchmark services and performance to maintain quality and competitive advantage.
  • Support maintaining of productive relationships with relevant specialty external stakeholders.
  • Effectively support contracts with specialty pharmacy/distribution partners to ensure that drive desired performance.
  • Maximize access to BI specialty products for the patients who need them.
  • Contribute to the overall strategy, direction, and culture of the specialty franchise at BI.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor´s degree from an accredited institution required.
  • MBA from an accredited institution in Science (biology, chemistry healthcare (MD, Nursing) and/or Marketing, Finance) and/or MD, PhD helpful, but not required.
  • At least fifteen (15) years of pharmaceutical experience and at least ten plus (10+) years in market access and/or specialty channel experience.
  • At least five plus (5+) years of leadership experience.
  • Analytical skills, communication skills, learning and adaptability, leadership skills, influencing skills.
  • Facility and experience interpreting clinical and health economic/outcomes research data.
  • Broad functional experiences in the US specialty market.
  • Subject matter expert on understanding complex economic implications of reimbursement strategies.
  • Works collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Hires, trains, develops and leads three (3) direct reports plus team of customer facing Area Reimbursement Managers.
  • Plays leadership role in shaping direction and culture of specialty franchise.

Desired Skills, Experience and Abilities

  • Clinical experience (nurse/nurse educator, pharmacist, clinical monitor/MSL, etc.) not required but helpful.
  • Experience with oral targeted therapies strongly preferred; lung cancer market experience helpful but not required.
