Role Description

Intercity Transit’s Commute Trip Reduction (CTR) program supports employees in choosing sustainable commute alternatives to driving alone by offering innovative benefits and resources. The CTR program aims to reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality, and help manage limited parking resources.

Intercity Transit received grant funding to create and manage an employee e-bike lending library, giving employees the opportunity to try e-bikes and determine how they might fit into their lifestyle, with the goal of supporting potential future purchase and ownership. The Walk N Roll Program Representative (E-Bike Lending Library Coordinator) will be responsible for coordinating, planning, and implementing all aspects of Intercity Transit’s employee e-bike lending library.

  • Responsible for arranging the maintenance and loaning of the e-bike fleet.
  • Conducting e-bike education and outreach events.
  • Promoting the program to employees.
  • Collecting program data.

This position involves collaborating with other Walk N Roll and Intercity Transit staff, the Employee Transportation Coordinator, and Cut Commute Committee members. The work schedule for this position is Monday - Friday with frequent evening and weekend hours.

This is a grant-funded position scheduled until June 2027 and is expected to be extended pending future grant renewal.

Our employee e-bike lending library is funded by a grant from WSDOT. The funding comes from Washington’s Climate Commitment Act (CCA). The CCA supports Washington’s climate action efforts by putting cap-and-invest dollars to work reducing climate pollution, creating jobs, and improving public health.

Examples of Duties

As a Walk N Roll Program Representative, you will:

  • Purchase, store, maintain, and track e-bike fleet, safety equipment, and program supplies.
  • Schedule and transport e-bikes for regular e-bike repair and maintenance.
  • Create and implement e-bike education, including support for safe riding skills, mode shift, and potential e-bike purchase and ownership.
  • Organize e-bike education, outreach, and community building events, activities, and classes to promote the program and support e-bike borrowers.
  • Establish and implement e-bike loaning and check-in and check-out processes.
  • Develop and implement a plan for promoting the program to employees, including the creation of marketing and outreach materials and giving presentations.
  • Serve on Intercity Transit’s Cut Commute Committee and collaborate with Intercity Transit’s Employee Transportation Coordinator.
  • Administer surveys, collect and track data, and write program reports.
  • Collaborate with other Intercity Transit and Walk N Roll staff, interns, and volunteers.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or a specialized certificate training in marketing, public administration, communications, event planning, program coordination, recreation, bicycle mechanics or riding safety, education, bicycle retail services, or related field.
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.
  • Must promote/emulate safe biking practices.
  • Ability to hook up and drive a van and trailer or willingness to learn.
  • Ability to obtain a Washington State driver’s license by the date of hire.
  • Must be willing to submit to a criminal background investigation, the results of which must meet the agency’s hiring criteria.
  • Knowledge of bicycle safety principles; basic bike maintenance; modern office procedures, methods, and equipment; volunteer recruitment and coordination; youth development and education.
  • Skill in safe, legal, and competent cycling skills; public speaking and presenting; ability to work with the public, youth, educators, and a wide-range of stakeholders; using computers and related software applications; ability to safely operate program van and trailer; prioritizing work and performing multiple tasks; establishing and abiding by project timelines; compiling and distributing data, materials, and information.

Requirements

  • Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, driving, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Semi–Physical Work: Exerting up to 30 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Requires walking up to 2 (two) miles and biking of 5-20 miles on occasion.
