Role Description

About the team | Mō te roopu

• International Revenue Strategy (IRS) plays a critical role in maintaining Inland Revenue’s strong international reputation in tax transparency.
• Delivers future-focused services to customers including other international tax authorities, organisations, financial institutions, and individuals with offshore interests.
• Addresses big international tax issues through smart strategies and effective exchange of international intelligence.
• Focused on delivering the right outcomes for IR, government, and ultimately for customers.

About the role | Mō te tūnga

• Internal title: Domain Specialist (L2).
• Focus on management and delivery of outcomes for a variety of customers, ensuring they are aware of and meeting their obligations.
• Work alongside domain principals and support domain leads within the IRS team.
• Must be well-organised and detail-oriented, motivated to deliver the right outcomes for customers.
• Ability to adapt to the needs of a wide range of internal and external customers is essential.
• Opportunity to join the team during the implementation of several new international initiatives related to tax transparency.
• Previous experience with tax or information exchange is beneficial but not a necessity.

Qualifications

• Experience in managing business processes including planning, documentation, and reporting.
• Strong relationship management skills and a passion to further develop skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• An awareness and/or understanding of the fundamentals of international taxation and Exchange of Information protocols, or a passion and commitment to learn.
• A strong work ethic with a can-do attitude, appreciation for a fast-paced environment, and proven ability to meet deadlines.
