The Deputy Director for Wildfire Long-Term Recovery Programs reports to the Director of Wildfire Long-Term Recovery Programs and is responsible for supporting the day-to-day management and execution of program operations. A successful candidate is a detail-oriented team player with a proven track record of managing multiple concurrent workstreams within a matrixed organization. The role requires strong communication skills, sound judgment, process improvement, problem-solving, and proactive collaboration. The Deputy Director supervises assigned staff and liaises closely with leadership to ensure day-to-day operations remain aligned with community needs, local recovery priorities, and the Red Cross mission. This role works closely with Regional and National Headquarters volunteer and paid staff, represents the fundamental principles of the American Red Cross in all interactions, and requires routine travel throughout wildfire-impacted areas.

This is a full-time, term-limited, benefits eligible position expected to last through January 2028 with the opportunity to extend based on business need.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Strong skills in community organizing, case management and/or partner-agency relations.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as supervisor or manager of workforce engaged in direct client contact in an outcomes-based social-services environment.
