[Hiring] Deputy Director of Voter ID Assistance @VoteRiders

2d ago - VoteRiders is hiring a remote Deputy Director of Voter ID Assistance. 💸 Salary: $85,000 - $95,000/year 📍Location: USA

Role Description

VoteRiders is the only national-scale, nonpartisan organization dedicated exclusively to voter ID — the increasingly critical barrier standing between millions of eligible Americans and the ballot box. We eliminate ID barriers to voting by informing communities about ID laws, equipping partner organizations to expand voting access, advocating for pro-voter policies, and providing free, one-on-one help to individuals to secure an accepted form of ID to vote.

The Deputy Director is second-in-command on the national VIDA team, assisting the National Director in overseeing program delivery. This role leads all VIDA partner organization management functions — and owns program systems, reporting infrastructure, and program-wide metrics. This is a full-time, remote position reporting to the National VIDA Director.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Partner Management:
    • Serve as primary staff member responsible for developing a robust and growing network of VIDA partners nationwide.
    • Lead partner orientation sessions, check-ins, onboarding, and ongoing support.
    • Assist field teams with partner recruiting.
    • Monitor and evaluate program outcomes.
    • Own partnership lifecycle: annual analysis and renewal, technical onboarding, Adobe Sign management, Zendesk tracking, and enforcement of agreement requirements.
    • Develop structure and guidelines for the partner mini-grants program, and support state-based teams in execution and oversight.
  • Program Systems, Tools & Reporting:
    • Own and continuously optimize Zendesk and program systems for reporting and continuous improvement.
    • Continuously evaluate and adapt digital program resources to emerging technology, including AI.
  • Reporting & Team Coordination:
    • Support VIDA volunteers, contractors, and partners in submitting voter stories, volunteer testimonials, and partner success stories.
    • Contribute to team meetings; coordinate cross-team reporting on VIDA program metrics.
    • Approve expenses related to volunteer ID assistance (shared with National Director and VIDA Coordinator).
    • Co-host organizing brainstorm calls and other cross-functional meetings as assigned.
  • VIDA Program Knowledge and Support:
    • Develop and maintain proficiency in all aspects of VoteRiders’ direct voter assistance work.
  • Management & Supervision:
    • Directly manage the VIDA Special Projects Manager, conducting regular check-ins and goal-setting conversations.
  • Organizational Stewardship:
    • Tend to internal administrative items (e.g., emails/Slack, timekeeping, expenses, HR).
    • Participate in internal activities (i.e., full team meetings, brainstorms, debriefs, culture-building activities, and regular check-ins with your supervisor).
    • Engage in organizational and team-wide professional development/learning opportunities.
    • Work effectively and with collegiality alongside people with whom they may have disagreements.
    • Demonstrate willingness to invest in building bridges and finding common ground; unify behind the organizational mission.

Qualifications

  • MSW, or equivalent experience with casework and/or managing and scaling direct service delivery programs.
  • 8+ years of directly applicable experience in program management, partner relations, or a related field.
  • Experience providing direct services and/or working within a community-based nonprofit setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a direct report.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex operational systems and multiple priorities independently.
  • Strong relationship management and partner-facing communication experience.
  • Strong computer skills: Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, Slack; aptitude to learn new software.
  • Willingness to travel as requested and for annual staff retreat and senior leadership meetings, with a physical location in proximity to a major airport.
  • Commitment to VoteRiders’ mission, values, and the communities it serves.

Preferred

  • Spanish language skills.
  • Experience with Zendesk or similar case management/CRM systems.
  • Familiarity with MOU management, Adobe Sign, and Bill[.]com.

Benefits

  • Starting salary is $85,000 - $95,000/year.
  • Comprehensive employee benefits, including:
    • Health benefits.
    • 401K with 4% employer contribution.
    • Generous paid time off, including 5 weeks/year of accrued vacation time, paid sick time, all federal holidays, 5 personal days, and paid office closures at Thanksgiving and winter holidays.
    • Equipment and home office stipends.
    • Lifestyle Spending Account via Joon.
    • Calm meditation app subscription.
