Role Description
We are looking for an experienced PostgreSQL DBA to manage and scale our mission-critical database infrastructure. With our rapid business growth, we need a skilled professional to ensure the performance, reliability, and scalability of our PostgreSQL databases.
- Administer and optimize PostgreSQL 14+ databases.
- Manage a multi-terabyte PostgreSQL database running on physical hardware.
- Handle backups, restores, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Support and optimize complex database structures, including triggers, stored procedures, and partitioning.
- Troubleshoot production performance issues quickly and effectively.
- Conduct performance tuning for a high-OLTP transaction database handling 100M+ transactions per day.
- Set up monitoring and alerts for disk space, CPU usage, and IO contention.
- Ensure database security through role-based and fine-grained access control.
- Work with PostgreSQL operators on Kubernetes for database management.
- Take initiative in identifying and resolving database issues proactively.
Upcoming Projects
- Migrate PostgreSQL 14 to PostgreSQL 16.
- Transition on-premise PostgreSQL to AWS.
- Optimize and migrate large historical tables (billions of rows) through partitioning and purging.
Qualifications
- Extensive PostgreSQL administration experience (v14+).
- Strong Linux expertise, particularly Debian, for production servers.
- Hands-on experience with performance tuning, high-transaction OLTP databases, and replication techniques.
- Advanced security knowledge and experience implementing access controls.
- Experience with Kubernetes-based PostgreSQL deployments.
- Self-motivated problem-solver with the ability to take initiative.
