[Hiring] Consultant, Contract Underwriting - E&S Specialty @Nationwide

Role Description

This role will be in our Contract+ unit. The ideal candidate will have brokerage casualty (GL) underwriting experience in the Excess & Surplus (non-admitted) line of business.

This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the Stem OPT Extension program.

Key Responsibilities

• Researches and develops new classes of business as directed.
• Researches market trends and competition.
• Assesses market viability, creates forms & endorsements, and develops rates with actuarial support.
• Partners with Actuarial team on large, complex accounts to develop rates/pricing.
• Reviews individual risks or programs within assigned territory and makes acceptance/declination decisions.
• Analyzes exposures to loss and develops adequate premium charges.
• Achieves team/individual production and loss ratio goals through sound territory management.
• Leads and influences agencies by creating sales strategies and implementing sales processes.
• Analyzes premium and loss results by agency, state, major class of business, and program.
• Performs audits of agents, individual risks, and programs for compliance.
• Quotes, prices, and underwrites new and renewal policies and endorsements.
• Handles policy maintenance items and mid-term requests.
• Fosters positive business relationships with agents and brokers.
• Demonstrates a thorough understanding of facultative reinsurance.
• Resolves technical questions of great complexity.
• Markets Nationwide products and services to drive agency and company results.
• May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate studies and completion of general insurance courses such as CPCU, CIC, AU, ARM, CPIW, CWIS, or ASLI is preferred.
• Eight years underwriting experience handling large or complex programs and accounts, excess & surplus lines preferred.
