[Hiring] Construction Site Supervisor @CORE Community Organized Relief Effort

2d ago - CORE Community Organized Relief Effort is hiring a remote Construction Site Supervisor. πŸ’Έ Salary: $68,000 - $72,000 πŸ“Location: USA

Role Description

CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort) is a crisis response organization that brings immediate aid and recovery to underserved communities across the globe. Our mission is simple: save lives and strengthen communities impacted by or vulnerable to crisis. Wherever the crisis is and whenever people are in need, we are there. CORE’s ability to impact communities is directly emboldened by each member of our staff and leadership.

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on construction and repair professional to serve as Construction Site Supervisor on our Emergency Response Roster. This is a working field role β€” not a contractor management or project oversight position. The Construction Site Supervisor is expected to:

  • Personally perform construction and repair work on and inside homeowner properties.
  • Conduct hands-on damage assessments.
  • Execute technical response scopes such as muck and gut, mold sanitation, tarping, and structural repairs directly alongside the teams they lead.

This role requires demonstrated ability to perform the physical and technical work β€” applicants whose experience is limited to managing subcontractors, reviewing bids, or overseeing job sites from a distance are not the right fit. We need someone who can pick up tools, make real-time technical decisions, and teach unskilled volunteers by modeling the work in the field.

Roster work is available on an as-needed basis (it is not full-time or continuous). Roster members may be called upon to deploy based on the specific needs arising from emergency situations, with the understanding that deployment opportunities and lengths may vary. Candidates should be prepared for rapid deployment, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to serve in various locations across the country as required.

CORE maintains a zero tolerance policy toward sexual exploitation and abuse, and all staff must fully cooperate with any investigation related to the PSEA policy. CORE will not hire candidates with confirmed prior findings of sexual exploitation, abuse, or other safeguarding misconduct in previous employment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years of direct, hands-on construction, repair, or emergency response operations experience.
  • Hands-on experience performing response and rebuild scopes (e.g., muck and gut, mold sanitation, tarping, structural repair).
  • Experience leading teams of volunteers in emergency response environments while personally performing the work alongside them.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage diverse teams in high-pressure environments.
  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities, with experience working across multiple departments and teams.
  • Flexibility to deploy to various locations in response to disasters and humanitarian crises.
  • A commitment to CORE's mission and values, with a passion for making a difference in the lives of those affected by disasters.

Requirements

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong project management, leadership and organizational skills.
  • Flexible and adaptive to a frequently changing environment.
  • Ability to conduct community assessments and implement response projects.
  • Competence in administrative tasks, report writing, and communications.
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving history.
  • Available at least for 2 weeks at a time.
  • Fluent in Spanish or other secondary language preferred.
  • Understanding and appreciating diverse cultural backgrounds and sensitivities, ensuring that all interventions are respectful and appropriate to the communities served.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to make a significant impact in disaster-affected communities.
  • Hands-on experience in emergency response operations.
  • Training and development opportunities.
