Role Description

Reporting to the Director, Community Impact, the Community Impact Lead is an entrepreneurial, outcomes-focused leader responsible for advancing measurable reductions in homelessness across a growing portfolio of communities. This role operates at the intersection of direct community delivery, team leadership, and continuous improvement.

They operate as a player-coach; they carry a specific portfolio of community relationships while supervising and developing a team of Improvement Advisors (IA’s) who deliver CAEH’s suite of services to communities. Together, the team helps communities move through a pipeline of service offerings, from initial engagement through deep commitment to the Built for Zero Canada (BFZ-C) movement, with the ultimate goal of reducing and ending homelessness.

The Community Impact Lead translates CAEH’s strategy and Theory of Change into day-to-day delivery, supporting communities to build local systems and solutions that sustainably reduce homelessness.

This role will work cross-functionally across our departments. They’ll partner with:

  • Business Development function to integrate revenue-generating services from our social enterprise model into our community work.
  • Data function to integrate a data-driven approach in their community advisory and coaching.
  • Philanthropy function to ensure fundraising messaging aligns with our demonstrated community impact.
  • Government Relations function to relay insights from our community-facing work and inform policy recommendations.

Qualifications

  • Passion for ending homelessness, a belief it’s possible, and a sense of urgency to get there.
  • Deep alignment with CAEH mission and values, and approach to systems change.
  • Past experience coaching and managing other individual contributors.
  • 5+ years’ experience in community impact, systems change, or advisory work.
  • 1-3 years of experience in service delivery, consulting, or comparable experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience coaching, managing, or supporting a team, or comparable experience.
  • Experience with service delivery models, including consulting, training, or fee-for-service engagements.
  • Experience with facilitation, public speaking, and coaching for improvement (virtual and in-person).
  • Command of the Model for Improvement/Quality Improvement and insight into how it can be used to drive improvements toward ending homelessness and measuring community-level impact.
  • Proficiency in data-driven decision making; experience with community-level data measurement is a strong asset.
  • Ability to manage projects in a fast-paced, virtual team environment against ambitious timelines.
  • Experience working in systems change, social impact, or public sector environments.
  • Experience with connecting community impact work with social enterprise services that balance revenue and mission.
  • Ability to navigate change, risk, and uncertainty.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience with a focus on public policy, social work, community development, and non-profit management.

Requirements

  • Lead a team of Improvement Advisors responsible for delivering CAEH’s services across community portfolios.
  • Manage the end-to-end employee experience of a team of Improvement Advisors (hiring, onboarding, 1:1s, regular feedback, career development, performance management, compensation reviews, employee relations, creating a psychologically safe environment, and offboarding).
  • Foster knowledge-sharing across the IA team - creating pathways for best practices to transfer between portfolios.
  • Create a psychologically safe, inclusive, and high-performing team environment.
  • Establish clear roles, expectations, and performance metrics tied to outcomes, our values, and our mission.
  • Work with the Sr. IA’s and CAEH leadership to coach team members to develop skills in integration with the Social Enterprise Model.
  • Contribute to the design, refinement, and delivery of standardized service offerings.
  • Support communities in progressing through the service pipeline, identifying when and how to deepen engagement toward reducing and ending homelessness.
  • Integrate fee-for-service delivery into community impact work, ensuring alignment with mission and measurable outcomes.
  • Support proposal development and scoping for community engagements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve service quality, scalability, and repeatability across the portfolio.
