Role Description

Join Catawiki as a Spanish Haute Epoque, Old Masters and Modern Art Expert. You will source, evaluate and curate artworks spanning Spanish Haute Epoque, Old Masters and Classical Art, from the Renaissance and Baroque to important 18th and 19th-century Spanish schools, Modernisme and early 20th-century Spanish modernism.

• Handle a high daily volume of submissions, from top-tier works to mid- and lower-value objects that still require rigorous assessment and clear commercial positioning.
• Work with highly collectible historical pieces from the 16th to the 18th centuries, alongside important classical and modern Spanish artworks up to the early 20th century.
• This role reports to the Category Lead of Secondary Market Art and is remote, with an immediate start date.

Team Description

You will join the Classical and Modern Art category, working closely with experts located across Europe, Sales and category leadership to grow and strengthen our Spanish art offering.

• The role combines curation and commercial ownership, with close collaboration with Sales to deliver measurable growth.
• The team values ownership, cross-functional delivery, strategic thinking and strong interpersonal collaboration.
• Support adjacent art categories when needed.

What You’ll Do

• Source, evaluate and curate Spanish Haute Epoque, Old Masters, Classical and Modern Art objects across Spain, wider Europe and key international markets, reviewing a large daily volume of works across value ranges.
• Write high-quality expert object descriptions, set public estimates and recommend reserve prices aligned with current market demand and auction performance data.
• Lead valuation, condition and authenticity assessments, making confident appraisal recommendations grounded in up-to-date market intelligence.
• Partner with Account Managers to design and deliver single-seller auctions and tailored seller growth plans, from onboarding through repeat supply.
• Build and maintain relationships with galleries, dealers, collectors, museums, artist estates and foundations across Spain and relevant international markets.
• Collaborate with the Spanish Haute Epoque, Old Masters and Modern Art team to ensure cohesive curation, shared market insights and operational excellence.
• Contribute to auction planning and category strategy, ensuring alignment with the broader European Old Masters, classical and modern art market.

What You’ll Bring

• An established professional network across Spain and wider Europe, including galleries, collectors, museums, artist estates and foundations.
• Multilingual skills. Fluent Spanish and English are essential, with French, Italian or Portuguese a plus.
• Familiarity with market-analytics tools, CRM systems or other art-industry platforms that support expert decision-making.

This is a 100% remote role based in Spain, with daily collaboration with teams in Spain and across other areas of Europe.
