[Hiring] Chapter Intern @American Foundation for Suicide Prevention

Role Description

The AFSP Chapter Intern will assist with the planning and implementation of events and programs within the assigned chapter territory. The needs of each event and program will differ, but roles and responsibilities may include:

• Participant Outreach
  • Calling past participants and inviting them to participate in chapter events.
  • Emailing current participants to let them know of upcoming incentives and opportunities.
  • Assist the event chair with individual participant communication if needed.
  • Recruiting new participants by promoting the events to various community groups.
• Reporting & Tracking
  • Run regular reports and update tracking sheets to reflect current participation for event or program.
• Marketing & Communication
  • Drafting email communication.
  • Posting on chapter social media channels.
  • Creating flyers and promotional content using supplied Canva templates.
• Logistics & Planning
  • Working with planning committee to determine logistics.

Events and programs could include Out of the Darkness Walks, Loss and Healing programs, Education programs, Research Connection programs, and Advocacy work.

Qualifications

• Social Media skills.
• Must have ability to travel across chapter territory as needed (mileage reimbursement).
• Ability to learn quickly, work independently, problem solve, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be detail-oriented.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be comfortable making phone calls on behalf of the organization.
• Professionally represent the AFSP brand with internal and external stakeholders.
• Displays professionalism and quality customer service and delivery skills.
• Ability to deal with sensitive information with a high level of trust and confidentiality.
• Experience or basic knowledge of most Microsoft computer programs, including Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Driver’s License and access to a vehicle, a plus.
