Role Description

This position focuses on working closely in collaboration with a larger team of natural resources specialists to provide environmental review and constraints analysis of biological and water resources for various construction sites for a utility sector client throughout Southern California.

  • Utilize biological and water resource technical and critical thinking skills when conducting desktop reviews for environmental clearance work.
  • Perform desktop-based environmental constraints analysis to determine appropriate levels/types of environmental avoidance and minimization measures needed for environmental compliance.
  • Complete work assignments in accordance with ERM's management system, format and quality standards.
  • Commitment to teamwork and ability to follow established processes and protocols while also confident with identifying process improvements to provide benefit to the client.
  • Process Data in Microsoft Excel.
  • Train and become independently proficient in client’s Work Management Systems.
  • Compliance with ERM’s rigorous safety program.
  • Conduct desktop constraints analysis using ArcGIS Online.
  • Understand digitally available resource layers and ability to learn quickly in a high-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS or Master’s degree in a natural science discipline.
  • 2+ years of field experience in California habitats, or similar (Southern California experience preferred).
  • Must be able to obtain clearance through client background check to access online system (upon employment).
  • Strongly proficient in computer software including Excel, MS Word, and online data management systems.
  • Excellent time management and follow-through skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health & Safety protocols.
  • High level written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports.
  • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, and work independently with minimal supervision on projects with expedited deadlines.
  • Demonstrated attributes to become a strong consultant – team player, eagerness to learn and grow, self-starter who takes initiative, versatile, and service-oriented mentality.
  • Ability to work safely outdoors in variable weather conditions and on challenging terrain.
  • Working knowledge of sub-meter accuracy GPS technologies and map interpretation skills (e.g., NWI, USGS, aerial photography).
  • Must have a strong attention to detail in documentation of work.
  • Must have strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated independent and effective problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.

Requirements

  • Annual base pay of $59,094 – $71,763, $28.41/hr – $34.50/hr, limited-term, non-exempt.
  • Employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.
  • This job may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/Flexforce employees are NOT bonus eligible).

  • Benefits Eligibility is limited to Regular employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week.
  • Fixed-Term employees (including Flexforce) who are regularly scheduled to work 20 hours a week or more are eligible for a limited benefits package.
  • Casual employees are NOT benefits eligible.
