Position: PDF Annotation & Transcription Experts – Bengali

Type: Contract

Compensation: $10–$11/hour

Location: Remote

Role Responsibilities

• Evaluate and confirm the legibility and content of provided Bengali PDF pages. Ensure no personal details are present.
• Annotate structure by identifying and bounding every meaningful region. Assign component types and reading-order indexes.
• Record relationships by linking regions to their parent components such as figures or tables.
• Transcribe text faithfully in Bengali script, including handwritten content. Flag any illegible regions.
• Capture page metadata including language, document type, source, and flags for tables, formulas, and handwriting.
• Review a colleague's work as an experienced annotator, ensuring quality and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Must-Have:
• Native Bengali speaker with full command of the script.
• Experience with document-related work such as annotation, transcription, or translation.
• High attention to detail with character-level accuracy.
• Systematic approach to applying taxonomies across multiple pages.
• Comfort with unfamiliar layouts like multi-column newspapers and handwritten forms.
• Preferred:
• Experience in regional-language AI data annotation and labeling.
• Skills in transcription and localization, including MTPE and OCR correction.
• Background in document production such as typesetting and proofreading.
• Knowledge of script and encoding, including Unicode normalization.
