Role Description

Working in a matrix environment, provides leadership and oversight of commercial lines underwriting quality in the regions, service center, and MUSIC. Works closely with the management teams in the field and the SBUs to plan and complete Regional reviews. Compiles regional self-reviews and corporate underwriting reviews. Identifies trends and makes recommendations to corporate underwriting and field for improvement. Partners with the SBUs and LOB team, the UTS staff, the Operations team in Corporate, Insurance Learning Services, Actuarial and the Compliance department to implement technical training as necessary based on the review outcomes. Maintains the Sox requirements documents pertaining to the Quality Assurance program. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage the quarterly underwriting reviews.
• Work with the field and SBUs to aggregate the review results, to identify trends and gaps in knowledge.
• Provide action plans and assist in addressing areas needing improvement by partnering with the SBUs, LOBs and Insurance Learning Services.
• Provide guidance and coordinate with the legal department for compliance issues regarding specific topics to assure underwriting processes and procedures appropriately match compliance requirements.
• Coordinate the formal underwriting regions, service center, and MUSIC reviews in accordance with the established schedule.
• Lead the review teams from the SBU and LOB as well as lead the wrap up discussions that include the Executive Management teams.
• Partner with the Chief Underwriting Officer, Commercial Lines and the SBU Leaders on, at minimum, an annual basis to ensure that the structure and intent of the program meets the underwriting discipline expectations they have for the organization.
• Provide updates to Board of Directors on key Enterprise findings.
• Author the SOX process documentation and provide quarterly certification as the Corporate Process Owner of the Quality Assurance Program.
• Lead the development of action plans and work with the regions to implement action plans resulting from the formal region review to assure gaps are closed, within the agreed upon timeframes.
• Provide leadership, guidance and oversight to quality assurance program for Safety Management, Bonds & E&S Operations relative to program administration.

Requirements

• College degree.
• Strong multi-line underwriting technical skills.
• 10-15 years of recent insurer experience.
