Role Description

The Associate, Business and Competitive Intelligence is responsible for maintaining the quality, accuracy, and usability of Salesforce CRM data across designated accounts and contacts. This role serves as a key owner of account and contact criteria, ensuring records are consistently reviewed, corrected, enriched, and aligned to agreed business development standards. The position supports commercial growth by performing structured CRM updates, quality control checks against approved external platforms, and ongoing data hygiene activities that improve segmentation, targeting, reporting, and outreach readiness for the Business Development teams.

• Owns the ongoing maintenance, update, and quality control of Salesforce CRM account and contact records in line with defined Business Development data standards.
• Maintains and applies clear contact and account criteria, ensuring records are complete, correctly categorized, appropriately segmented, and aligned to commercial priorities.
• Performs regular QC of Salesforce data against approved external platforms and source materials to validate company status, contact accuracy, role relevance, account ownership, and other key CRM fields.
• Identifies, corrects, and prevents data-quality issues including duplicate records, outdated contacts, incomplete account profiles, incorrect segmentation, missing decision-maker information, and inconsistent naming or classification.
• Partners with Business Development, Sales Support, Inside Sales, Marketing, and leadership stakeholders to ensure CRM records support accurate targeting, outreach planning, pipeline visibility, and reporting.
• Documents and follows agreed CRM hygiene processes, escalation paths, and quality standards to ensure consistent handling of account and contact updates across the business.
• Generates routine data-quality reports and dashboards that measure CRM hygiene, update volume, error trends, completion rates, and areas requiring stakeholder follow-up.
• Supports business development outreach readiness by ensuring priority accounts and contacts are current, actionable, and appropriately enriched before campaign or pursuit activity begins.
• Uses business and competitive intelligence sources to supplement CRM records and provide context on account movement, organizational changes, therapeutic focus, corporate activity, and market signals.
• Provides regular feedback to the line manager and Business Development leadership on data-quality risks, recurring CRM gaps, process improvement opportunities, and progress against CRM hygiene KPIs.
• Key performance indicators for this role will focus on Salesforce CRM hygiene, including contact and account completeness, accuracy of key fields, timely completion of assigned updates, reduction of duplicate or outdated records, adherence to defined account/contact criteria, and quality-control pass rates following review against external platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a marketing, communications, science, data, business, or related discipline; or equivalent experience in a business development, sales operations, CRM, data quality, or commercial support environment.
• Experience working with CRM systems, preferably Salesforce, including record maintenance, data entry standards, contact/account enrichment, and reporting.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify, investigate, and resolve data-quality issues across account and contact records.
• Ability to quality check CRM data against external platforms and approved research sources to confirm accuracy, completeness, and relevance.
• Working understanding of the CRO, Specialty Labs, pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences commercial environment preferred.
• Reads, writes, speaks fluently, and comprehends the English language.
• Demonstrates disciplined ownership of recurring CRM maintenance activity and is able to meet agreed data-quality KPIs and deadlines.
• Must be adaptable, professional, process-oriented, and comfortable working with stakeholders across Business Development, Sales Support, Inside Sales, and Marketing.
• Able to interpret account and contact criteria consistently and escalate ambiguous records or data-quality decisions when required.
• Willingness to undertake domestic and international travel, including overnight stays, if business needs require.

Preferred

• Experience using Salesforce, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, ZoomInfo, Citeline, Evaluate, company websites, clinical trial registries, or similar external platforms to validate and enrich account/contact data.
• Experience in the CRO, pharmaceutical, biotech, specialty labs, or broader life sciences industry.
