Role Description

The City of Golden is currently seeking Affordable Housing Policy Coordinator applicants. This role involves:

• Developing and implementing policy initiatives to support innovative housing solutions.
• Providing strategic direction in affordable housing creation and preservation.
• Coordinating cooperative efforts facilitating affordable housing development throughout the city.
• Administering the city’s affordable housing activities related to city housing policies.
• Ensuring compliance with State housing initiatives.
• Supporting housing programmatic efforts within the City.
• Acting as primary contact for properties acquired by the city for affordable housing.
• Researching and providing recommendations in the development of policies related to housing development strategies.
• Identifying opportunities for partnerships to create affordable housing development.
• Representing the City to the public and in stakeholder work groups.
• Presenting new projects and advocating for approval before City Council.
• Understanding the process of housing development and financing for affordable housing projects.
• Monitoring future City-funded housing projects for compliance.
• Supporting preservation of existing affordable housing.
• Overseeing all city-owned properties used for affordable housing.
• Creating and preserving existing affordable housing options.
• Monitoring housing legislative and funding opportunities.
• Assisting in planning, development, implementation, and management of program strategies.
• Collaborating with partner entities to accomplish city goals and objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, real estate, urban planning, public policy, or related field; Master's preferred.
• Minimum three (3) years' experience in affordable housing or related fields.
• Experience in grant writing for federal and/or state funded programs.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, emphasizing equity, diversity, and inclusion.
• Experience with multifamily real estate and public sector programs preferred.
• Experience in negotiating legal documentation for real estate transactions.
• Working knowledge of various affordable housing lending programs.
• Experience with federal programs related to housing.
• Experience working with Colorado housing agencies.

Requirements

• Must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Understanding of accounting principles and financial reports.
• Ability to analyze and evaluate situations effectively.
• Knowledge of public administration programs and landlord/tenant law.
• Skilled in contract and grant administration.
