Role Description
Our client is seeking a Copywriter / Email Marketing Specialist to support the Degrees Marketing team during a parental leave coverage assignment. This role is primarily focused on high-quality copywriting for structured, pre-defined marketing campaigns supporting online degree programs. The emphasis is on translating complex program messaging into clear, persuasive, learner-focused copy that supports consideration and enrollment over a longer decision-making cycle.

Write clear, engaging, conversion-focused copy for email campaigns, landing pages, paid media, in-platform messaging, and other digital marketing assets

Support email marketing campaigns including nurture journeys, promotional messaging, and learner communications

Translate structured campaign briefs and product positioning (UVPs) into compelling marketing copy

Simplify complex information such as degree programs, admissions requirements, affordability, and career outcomes into clear, persuasive messaging

Ensure copy aligns with brand voice, compliance standards, and higher education messaging guidelines

Collaborate with marketing managers and cross-functional teams to support campaign execution

Manage multiple assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Edit and proofread copy for grammar, clarity, accuracy, and consistency

Support campaign updates and revisions based on stakeholder feedback
Qualifications

3β8 years of experience writing email marketing copy and lifecycle/nurture campaigns with a focus on conversion-driven messaging

Must have prior experience writing for a longer decision-making cycle/buyer journey for products/services (e.g., financial services, real estate, higher education, SaaS subscriptions, or similar)

Must have experience with CRM/email tools such as Braze or Marketo (Preferably Braze)

Strong experience writing email campaigns and lifecycle/nurture messaging (subject lines, CTAs, conversion copy)

Must be a strong writer first β someone who can take a structured brief and independently produce compelling marketing copy with minimal direction

Ability to take structured briefs and independently produce polished, ready-to-use copy with minimal oversight

Strong ability to translate product messaging into clear, persuasive marketing language

Strong industry knowledge of long product cycles

Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills

Experience to meet deadlines and deadlines independently, keep track, and follow-up as needed

Comfortable working in a highly structured, execution-focused environment

Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides)

Experience in higher education, edtech, online learning, or university marketing campaigns

Experience supporting lifecycle marketing or nurture campaign strategy

Strong ability to simplify complex product/program information into clear messaging

Experience in B2C/B2B SaaS, subscription, or digital product marketing
