[Hiring] Data Engineer @Common Room

Role Description

You will be responsible for building efficient data pipelines to process billions of events and user actions daily. Your tasks will include:

• Building systems to transform data for customer insights and internal use.
• Scaling ETL pipelines and data warehouses to support growth.
• Collaborating with team members to ensure internal capabilities meet customer needs.
• Participating in important company-building initiatives.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience, with 2 years focused on ETL pipelines and data warehouses.
• Ability to operate independently while seeking support when needed.
• Experience in backend development and ownership of large projects.
• Effective collaboration with other engineers, including front-end developers.
• Good judgment on trade-offs and tools for problem-solving.
• Focus on customer problems to design systems and create elegant solutions.
• Consideration of observability, SLA, and scalability without premature optimization.
• Familiarity with AWS, Postgres, and Node.js.
• Authenticity and engagement in candid feedback.
• Ability to manage time and priorities sustainably.
• Pride, ownership, and accountability for work.

Requirements

• Experience with TypeScript and Node.js.
• Knowledge of TypeGraphQL for API endpoints.
• Experience with Kafka for event processing.
• Familiarity with Apollo/Express as a web server.
• Experience with Postgres (hosted on RDS) and ClickHouse as databases.
• Proficiency in React for front-end development.
• Experience with AWS for infrastructure needs.
• Knowledge of Snowflake as a data warehouse.
