[Hiring] Senior Billing Revenue Analyst @Karbon

Role Description

We’re looking for a Senior Billing & Revenue Analyst to join our Finance team. This role is designed for someone who brings deep expertise in subscription billing, a foundational understanding of revenue accounting principles, the systems fluency to navigate complexity and build scalable solutions, and a genuine appetite for applying AI to make billing smarter and faster.

• Own the full billing lifecycle.
• Serve as the internal expert on Zuora.
• Be a trusted partner to both customers and cross-functional teams.
• Support month-end close activities and revenue recognition questions.
• Drive AI adoption to reduce manual work and surface anomalies faster.

The Opportunity

• Complex Billing Management:
  • Manage complex subscription scenarios including multi-year deals, mid-term amendments, upgrades, downgrades, credits, and custom billing structures.
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies and invoicing errors.
  • Manage renewals, adjustments, and amendments in Zuora.
  • Serve as the billing team's go-to resource for edge cases.
• Customer-Facing Support:
  • Act as a senior point of contact for customers on billing-related inquiries.
  • Partner with Customer Success and Support teams to resolve billing issues.
  • Represent the billing function externally with confidence.
• Contract Advisory:
  • Review customer agreements to ensure accurate billing setup.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on contract terms and implications.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Sales, and Finance on billing-related contract language.
• Revenue Accounting Support:
  • Apply knowledge of ASC 606 and SaaS revenue recognition principles.
  • Assist with month-end close activities and reconciliations.
  • Partner with Revenue Accounting to ensure clean, auditable revenue recognition.
  • Flag complex billing scenarios for proper treatment.
• Accounts Receivable Management:
  • Own the end-to-end collections process.
  • Maintain accurate AR reporting and support month-end close.
• Zuora Expertise:
  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert on Zuora.
  • Maintain accurate subscription records and billing rules in Zuora.
  • Partner with RevOps and Finance on Zuora-related projects.
• AI Fluency & Billing Automation:
  • Drive AI adoption within billing and revenue operations.
  • Use AI-powered tooling to streamline billing workflows.
  • Leverage AI-assisted tools to improve customer communications and contract reviews.
• Systems & Process Optimization:
  • Navigate interconnected systems to diagnose issues and engineer solutions.
  • Identify gaps in billing and revenue processes.
  • Document workflows and standard operating procedures.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with Sales, Finance, Accounting, Revenue Operations, and Customer Success.
  • Provide billing and systems guidance to internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in billing operations, revenue operations, or a related function within a SaaS or subscription-based company.
• Extensive, hands-on experience with Zuora.
• Foundational knowledge of revenue recognition principles (ASC 606).
• Proven experience handling complex, non-standard billing scenarios.
• Comfortable being customer-facing and communicating billing matters.
• Strong ability to interpret contract language accurately.
• Systems-savvy with the ability to work across multiple platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to work with AI tools in a finance or operations context.
• A self-starter who takes ownership and drives problems to resolution.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
