Role Description

Pipeline Design/Facilities Engineer, Natural Gas (remote) – Palm Beach, FL

Start Date: ASAP

Type: Temporary Project

Estimated Duration: 12 months with possible extensions

Work Setting: Remote.

Qualifications

  • Experience in pipeline engineering, facilities engineering, or pipeline construction support (7+ years)
  • Experience with natural gas transmission pipelines and station facilities, class location requirements, hydrotesting, welding, NDE, and CP fundamentals
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and field documentation
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or related Engineering discipline
  • Experience with hydraulic modeling software to establish flow performance parameters (preferred)
  • Experience supporting M&R stations, CP systems, DCVG surveys, and start-up/commissioning (preferred)
  • Experience participating in HAZOP or formal risk review processes (preferred)
  • Experience with AutoCAD, alignment sheets, and pipeline data systems (preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward EIT certification (preferred)

Requirements

  • Experience in natural gas pipeline facilities engineering, metering and regulating station design, or transmission system operations (7+ years)
  • Experience with natural gas transmission facilities, metering and regulating stations, pipeline interconnects, mainline valve assemblies, pig launcher and receiver systems, custody transfer measurement systems, pressure regulation systems, and pipeline SCADA and telemetry systems
  • Experience with natural gas transmission systems, pipeline hydraulics, custody transfer metering, pressure regulation and flow control, gas quality measurement, overpressure protection systems, pipeline automation and telemetry, SCADA integration, launcher and receiver operations, and pipeline operational flexibility
  • Experience with ASME B31.8, API standards, AGA measurement standards, PHMSA regulations, and SCADA and automation systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • Experience with interstate pipeline systems and hub facilities (preferred)
  • Experience supporting large-scale pipeline expansion projects (preferred)
  • Experience with gas control operations and pipeline scheduling (preferred)
  • Experience with ultrasonic metering and flow computer configuration (preferred)
  • Experience overseeing third-party engineering firms and contractors (preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Perform and support pipeline design and engineering in accordance with applicable federal regulations and industry standards
  • Support the design, specification, and review of measurement and pressure regulation facilities
  • Review P&IDs, equipment layouts, control philosophies, and vendor submittals
  • Provide vendor surveillance for major pipeline and station equipment
  • Support materials selection for line pipe, fittings, valves, and coatings
  • Support development and review of welding procedures, welder qualifications, NDE methods, and hydrotest section limits
  • Support cathodic protection system design and commissioning
  • Serve as the technical lead and owner's engineering representative for the planning, design, engineering oversight, construction support, and operational integration of natural gas metering and regulating facilities
  • Lead engineering support for the development of a natural gas pipeline hub
  • Provide technical oversight for the design and operation of custody transfer metering stations
  • Oversee the engineering and design of mainline valve assemblies and automated block valve stations
  • Provide technical oversight for pipeline telemetry and SCADA system integration
  • Review and approve multidisciplinary engineering deliverables
  • Support construction planning, constructability reviews, FAT/SAT testing, commissioning, and startup activities
