[Hiring] Software Engineer @Trunk%20Tools

May 15, 2023 - Trunk%20Tools is hiring a remote Software Engineer. 📍Location: USA.

At Trunk Tools, we are tackling the massive $850B+ construction labor industry. We’re an exceptional team of serial entrepreneurs, brought together by our shared mission: to put money back into the pockets of people who actually do the work - tradespeople. Our solution makes on-site processes safer, more productive, and of higher quality, thereby solving the U.S skilled labor shortage.  Our founding team (Stanford GSB, McGill, STRABAG, Mark43, Carta, LinkedIn, Uber, etc.) has successfully built and deployed software in construction for 140k+ users, millions of users beyond the construction space, and worked on +$1 billion of built-environment projects. Within our first year of business, we’ve captured contracts worth $1 million in ARR alongside backing from incredible Seed investors and industry experts (amazing, we know!). We are extremely excited to be in hyper-growth mode and we hope you join us on our journey to revolutionize the construction industry!

Are you up for the challenge?

We're looking for an experienced Full-Stack Software Engineer to bring our product vision to life by developing well-thought features that have thousands of users waiting for them! As a Software Engineer at Trunk Tools, you will play a major role in owning, managing, and driving the overall development and implementation of our front and back-end software applications through conception, research, implementation, and maintenance. You will be reporting to our VP of Engineering, Rob Balousek, and have the opportunity to work closely with our wonderful CEO, Dr. Sarah Buchner, and a team of talented engineers and cross-functional stakeholders.

We could be a great match if:
  • You can decompose tricky problems and work towards a clean solution, by yourself or with teammates.

  • You understand how parts of a system fit together—from the user interface to the data model. You should be familiar with relational database systems like Postgres or MySQL.

  • You consider yourself to be a generalist engineer - willing to roll up your sleeves and use whatever language or framework will best help you get the job done.

  • You can work independently but also understand the importance of teamwork. You enjoy collaborating cross-functionally to accomplish shared goals, and you care about learning, growing, and helping others to do the same

  • You think critically about the implications of what you're building, and how it shapes real people's lives. You understand that reach comes with responsibility for our impact—good and bad.

  • You are excited at the opportunity to support the evolution of our product from an MVP into a fully-fledged application that we can deploy to thousands of users within the next 12 months

  • You are ready to drive the development of new products such as in-depth analytics for customers

  • You can build and iterate on existing features based on customer feedback and enjoy playing an active part in the conversations around product strategy and are willing to bring in novel ideas

  • You take responsibility for ensuring applications are reliable and bug-free and can perform routine site audits, as well as ongoing maintenance, on an as-needed basis.

Bonus points if you have:
  • Strong familiarity with core software development concepts and proficiency with our tech stack; We use (PERN- Postgres, Express, React, Node)

  • Side projects outside of work that you’re excited to tell us about!

  • Experienced working in the construction/construction tech, B2B, SAAS, or fintech sectors

  • Managed/ led technical teams

  • A strong affinity for working in an ever-changing start-up environment and genuinely enjoy being scrappy

  • A great sense of humor & competitive spirit! (We take our Skribbl games very seriously)

🎖️ A close-knit and collaborative early-stage startup environment where every voice is heard and every opinion matters; currently we're 12 team members

Your starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. For this role, the estimated base salary is $140,000-$190,000 DOE.
