We’re looking for a Head of Engineering who is excited to build at the forefront of precision health and use creativity to help us improve the health and daily performance of millions across the globe. You will play an important role in building products that inform and delight customers while empowering them to leverage their personal health data to achieve optimal health.

As an early member of a Series A startup, you will be involved in long-term strategy as well as highly tactical day-to-day execution. Reporting directly to the CEO / co-founder, this is a rare opportunity to help build from the ground up and drive growth at the earliest stage. The right person is a generalist, has startup experience, and is excited to attack challenges, iterate, and build.

We have scaled quickly and gained significant customer traction but have a lot of opportunity for improvement on the technology side. You’ll have a lot of autonomy over your work and will take ownership of all technology aspects of the business including system architecture, data science, security, and improvement. Some areas / projects that we are focused on (not an exhaustive list):

• Design innovative UIs that inform and delight customers, including interesting interfaces displaying complex data analysis in ways consumers understand

• Build integrations between us and partners (clinicians, brands, etc.) and/or data sources (labs, EMRs, wearables, etc)

• AI / ML to improve our personalized nutrition recommendation algorithm

• iOS and Android app development (react native)

• You will also have support of outsourced technology partners who are experts in AI /ML related to nutrition and genetics and have worked alongside our in-house team from company outset. Our web stack is ReactJS + typescript, Python, and AWS.

Tasks you can expect to perform:

• Coach & Mentor the engineering team members

• Develop & enhance engineering processes

• Work directly with the product & design teams to develop solutions and prioritize work for the engineering team.

• Review & test code for quality and correctness

• Manage deployment schedules, ensuring stability of our platforms

• Execute on POCs for future product features and enhancements

• Make meaningful contributions to the code base

   

• Early stage startup experience and proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, continuously evolving environment

• You thrive in a fast-paced environment with a preference for ambiguous, open-ended problems

• Demonstrated success building fast and creating efficient solutions to complex challenges

• Enjoy thinking through short-term vs. long-term needs and trade-offs and excited to test prototypes to validate assumptions

• Strong technical and communication skills

• You have an inherent curiosity in everything you do and love to learn.

• You’re meticulously organized. It allows you to iterate quickly and respect deadlines.

• You are self-managed and resourceful – a problem solver than can recognize problems and quickly plan and execute solutions without needing oversight

• You are excited at the idea of personalized health and want to dig in, learn, and build a better consumer-centric future by combining tech, health data, and science
