Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Development:

• Lead and manage a team of software developers.
• Foster a collaborative environment and provide mentorship and guidance.
• Facilitate career development plans and conduct regular performance evaluations.

Product Development and Delivery:

• Ensure product releases are on time, within scope, and on budget.
• Understand and oversee the complete software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and other stakeholders to define requirements and set priorities.
  

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

• Develop and enforce quality assurance processes.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.
• Collaborate with QA teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality products

Strategic Planning and Execution:

• Work with leadership to align engineering strategy with company goals.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes as needed.
• Assist in budget planning and manage resources effectively.

Communication and Collaboration:

• Facilitate clear and concise communication within the engineering team and with other departments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive project success

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Experience with Git (Gitlab preferred)
• Proven track record of delivering projects on time and on budget.
• Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in working with application databases (PostgreSQL preferred).

Even Better, But Not Required:

• Based in Birmingham or willing to relocate.
• Experience with Ruby on Rails, Pivotal Tracker.
• Ability to write tests in RSpec.
• Familiarity with Python and Flask.
• Experience in Microsoft Bot Framework.
• Proficiency in AWS cloud services.
• Familiarity with machine learning engineering.
