[Hiring] Developer Advocate, Machine Learning @UNION

About Us

Union.ai is a Seattle-based startup founded by a team of former Lyft engineers.  We contribute to Flyte,  an open source platform for orchestrating massively scalable machine learning pipelines running on Kubernetes. 

These pipelines power some of the most popular apps on your phone, as well as applications in diverse industries such as song sharing, vaccine research, early cancer detection, global map rendering, financial projecting, and piloting autonomous vehicles.

The Opportunity:

Union AI is an open source first company. We provide infrastructure for our customers to build delightful Machine Learning driven products and deliver them in production. The objective of the Developer Advocate is to support developers who want to learn about Union Open source products - Flyte, UnionML and Pandera, and enable them to use them in production settings. In this role, you are the bridge between the engineering team and the developer community. The ideal candidate will be an ML practitioner, earning trust and credibility with our product champions (Machine Learning Engineers) as a product of their hands on experience.

In this role, you will:

• Steer and drive the community engagement for Flyte, UnionML & Pandera

• Establish credibility with developers and developer communities as a thought leader and partner

• Provide code samples, presentations, tutorials, and blogs for developers

• Present technical sessions at conferences, running workshops, and hands-on hackathons

• Grow, manage, and maintain a positive public profile with the community at large

• Collaborate and coordinate community-building activities with various Union teams

• Provide user feedback to Flyte/Union engineering teams

About you:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience

• You have previous experience (at least six months) in working with open source communities, ideally in data science, machine learning, or data orchestration

• Creating high-quality tutorials, videos, presentations

• Blogging, technical documentation, developer outreach, and writing technical documentation 

• Understanding core Kubernetes principles with hands-on Kubernetes experience

• Working knowledge or in depth understanding of Data Processing and Machine Learning systems

• You are humble and collaborate well with other people. You thrive in team settings and exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• You are self-motivated, reliable, and can function effectively in a distributed team
