Our app is now downloaded more than 78M times a year, and our private search engine packaged with it has become the #2 search engine on mobile in the United States and 18 other countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Germany, and the Netherlands. Oh, and we've been profitable since 2014, with revenue exceeding $100 million a year! Now, we’re rolling out a suite of new privacy solutions, including Privacy Pro, App Tracking Protection and our first-ever Desktop Apps for Mac and Windows.


We’re looking for a Lead, Business Development to help shape our all-in-one privacy solution and join our mission to show the world that protecting your privacy online can be simple.


The Opportunity

In this role, you will take lead end-to-end on partnerships deals, supporting future products and distribution to help scale revenue opportunities and enable new functionality/improve our services.


You will lead the evaluation and execution of these deals with little oversight, creating clear rationale for proposed partnerships, building internal consensus, and negotiating and executing partnerships. You will also manage and nurture relationships with existing partners, pursuing opportunities to expand partnerships while contributing to strategy development by identifying, scoping, and pursuing business development opportunities.


As someone comfortable navigating complex business organizations, you will demonstrate effective project management skills coordinating and guiding alignment with internal teams, such as product, engineering, and design, to support organizational needs and execute partner integrations, as well as both internal and external legal resources to structure and close on business deals.



What You Will Bring to DuckDuckGo

  1. 10+ years of business development experience including 5+ years leadership experience.
  2. Proven success in similar roles, identifying and developing business opportunities, and structuring and closing large deals, ideally in a web- or software-based business.
  3. Experience negotiating complex deals including the ability to draft term sheets and contract language.
  4. Experience navigating complicated business org structures, identifying and reaching decision-makers, crafting proposals and driving successful outcomes. Takes full ownership of deals and sees them through completion.
  5. Experience with search, digital advertising, or software subscription/in-app purchase models, with strong awareness of established and disruptive brands.
  6. Team-oriented and able to collaborate with others both within and beyond our functional team.
  7. Focused critical thinking and problem-solving skills, devising improvements to processes and contributing to strategy at the project and objective level.
  8. Superior level of communication demonstrated either within functional team or through large scale cross-functional projects, preferably at a global scale tech company.

Compensation

Annual compensation: $198,000 - $220,000 USD and stock options. Compensation is the same within a professional level, regardless of geographic location or functional area, and the compensation for each professional level is transparent across the organization.

  1. Sometimes we meet up! Expect to travel at least two times a year: once for our all-hands meetup and again for a team retreat (each around 4-5 days). While extenuating circumstances may impact attendance, everyone is strongly encouraged to attend.
  2. While we offer a flexible work arrangement with no core hours, expect an average full-time commitment of 40 hours per week.
