[Hiring] Infrastructure Engineer @UNION

Union.ai is a Seattle-based startup founded by a team of former Lyft engineers.  We contribute to Flyte,  an open source platform for orchestrating massively scalable machine learning pipelines running on Kubernetes. 

These pipelines power some of the most popular apps on your phone, as well as applications in diverse industries such as song sharing, vaccine research, early cancer detection, global map rendering, financial projecting, and piloting autonomous vehicles.

The Opportunity:

Reporting into our Head of Infrastructure Engineering, you will play a critical role in improving the developer and customer experience through building and maintaining reusable infrastructure components. We wear a lot of different hats here and our ideal candidate would relish the opportunity to work directly with our customers in solving complex problems at scale. Our small team means that you will have an outsized impact in determining how our infrastructure scales

In this role, you will:

• Design and build continuous integration, verification and deployment strategies for distributed software applications

• Develop and maintain reusable infrastructure components on AWS and GCP

• Develop and maintain tooling to make our systems more reliable, secure and performant

• Work closely with the rest of the engineering team to improve developer experience

• Design and build scalable monitoring and observability systems and best practices

   

About you: 

• Strong technical background with 5+ years experience as an Infrastructure, DevOps or SRE Engineer

• Experience working with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation, etc

• Strong background managing Kubernetes at scale in GCP, AWS, or Azure

• Expertise in programming languages such as Golang, Python, etc

• Experience using Prometheus for metric aggregation/alerting and observability tooling such as Grafana, Datadog, or CloudWatch for diagnosing production issues

• Bonus points if you have hands-on experience with production workloads in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and experience working with multi-tenant environments
