Head of Infrastructure

Herotel is seeking a skilled Head of Infrastructure to report to our National Support Office in Stellenbosch. This position will have remote work flexibility. 

Description of the role:
As the Head of Server Infrastructure at Herotel, you will be responsible for overseeing the company's cloud and on-premises infrastructure and related vendor relationships. You will lead a team of infrastructure professionals and ensure that the company's systems are secure, scalable, and available to meet the needs of the business.

Key Responsibilities will include:

• Further develop and implement the infrastructure strategy and ensure that it aligns with the overall business objectives of the company.
• Lead and manage a team of infrastructure professionals, including network engineers, system administrators, and database administrators.
• Ensure that the company's systems and networks are secure, reliable, and available to meet the needs of the business(platform stability, uptime, and security.)
• Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders both within and outside of the company.
• Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on the status of the company's cloud and on-premises infrastructure.
• Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the company's server and storage infrastructure.
• Ensure that disaster recovery and business continuity plans are in place and tested regularly.
• Stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in infrastructure and provide guidance to the organization on best practices.
• Manage the budget for the infrastructure function and ensure that expenditures are within the approved budget and continually look for cost optimizations.
• Manage the infrastructure support desk. 

The successful candidate must have the following experience/skills: 

• 6+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
• Strong knowledge of network and system administration principles and best practices, as well as regulatory requirements related to infrastructure
• Strong experience in Azure and AWS cloud infrastructure, from a design and support aspect
• Experience managing a team of infrastructure professionals
• Demonstrable experience in managing complex disaster recovery plans & procedures.
• Requires working knowledge of ISP's and their operations and procedures.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to operate at all levels of the organization.
• Ability to manage change within the organization.
• Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to work in a team environment.
• Strong organizational and planning skills, resourcefulness, creative problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
• Professional certifications such as follows are highly desirable: 
  - CCNA, CCNP, MCSE, or RHCE
  - AWS Certified DevOps Engineer
  - Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
  - Docker Certified Associate (DCA)
