DevOps / Kubernetes / PHP (f/m/*, 80-100%, remote)

We are POLITANALYTICS, a Swiss / European policy platform which helps politics & policy professionals to monitor and manage their political matters. And we are growing! So, we are hiring a new team member – as soon as possible:

DevOps / k8s / PHP (f/m/*, 80%-100%, remote)

or

DevOps / k8s only (f/m/*, 40%-60%, remote)

PolitAnalytics is based on Symfony, React, and some more libraries. You will be the first devops person to join and interact with a fully agile team of back-end / front-end developers. Our tool is a comprehensive, reliable, fast, and independent platform that collects and processes open government data focusing on politics.

Your role is dedicated to long-term learning and self-developing, so you will be key in maintaining and expanding our platform. Your role can be performed full time (80-100%) or part-time (40-60%) with great flexibility, we support flexible working arrangements as we are a family-friendly employer.

 Your must-haves: 

• Experience as a DevOps engineer in a scalable production environment.

• Setup and operate Kubernetes clusters using best practices (should know how to build architecture using the single concern principle, implement service communication, expose services outside the cluster and scale up when needed ).

• Knowledge about infrastructure monitoring and good understanding of metrics and tracking down performance issues.

• Build Docker images for production use cases.

• Excellent Linux knowledge (i.e. Alpine Linux quirks).

• Experience deploying medium sized production environments focused on limiting costs and providing high availability on GCP.

• Experience using Git for version control.

• Experience with CI/CD and automation technologies such as Ansible,  Bitbucket Pipelines and/or Jenkins.

• Good PHP knowledge.

• Completed / well advanced education in computer science, programming, or applied informatics (university, technical college or similar) OR self-trained wizard with proven outstanding track record.

• Independent working habits.

• Ability to work in a team environment.

• Ability and willingness to constantly improve and learn new skills.

• Very good command of English as our main working language. We are a team of good communicators within product design, back end, front end, business.

• Based in Europe / within CET (max. ± 2h) timezone, fully able (passport, visa) to travel internationally twice a year.

Your nice-to-haves:

• Very nice to have knowledge of Symfony.

• Passion about writing clean and optimized code.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) platforms, like Terraform.

• AWS and/or other cloud providers (we currently use only google cloud but might utilize some managed services of other cloud providers)

• Experience in security monitoring

• German language skills are a plus, French and / or Italian language skills would be a super-plus

Our hiring process follows 2-3 interviews with a personal interview, some coding tasks within a given amount of time, a skills assessment interview, and a final HR / contracting interview.
