[Hiring] Senior Product Designer, Nanny Lane @Care Guide

Apr 24, 2023 - Care Guide is hiring a remote Senior Product Designer, Nanny Lane. šŸ“Location: Canada.

CareGuide was founded with one thing in mind: to ensure that anyone in search of care can find it. We help people take care of the things that are closest to their hearts: their homes, their pets, their parents, and their kids.

Nanny Lane is CareGuide's newest product, dedicated to making quality child care accessible to families across North America. We know that life can be stressful and busy, and the right childcare makes all the difference. Our tight-knit team is focused on building a best-in-class product (rated 4.8 stars on Google) while growing quickly (~90% year-over-year growth).

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer who is excited to change the future of child care and is ready to bring their unique contributions to a top-quality design team. You'll closely collaborate with engineering, product, and design to define how we’ll work together to create impactful and innovative solutions for families’ and nannies’ most critical needs: child care and employment. We strongly believe in an agile, cross-functional and collaborative design culture. You’ll be reporting to our Design Manager, and you’ll start by pairing with our designers across the organization, all while making significant contributions yourself.

Work-Life Balance. We strive to work smarter, not longer. You choose what hours and timing suit your lifestyle (within reason), and we will do our best to accommodate.

Autonomy. We want everyone to be able to perform to their best ability, and we’ll give you the space to find a rhythm that works for you. Our process and approach are just as iterative as our work; we’re always open to trying new things.

Dedicated to Quality. We always do the best we can with any ambitious problems we’re solving. We work together and take pride in the experiences we create. Feedback is encouraged and welcomed to help everyone improve their crafts.

Collaboration. Being on a small team, team members work closely with all functions. It's essential to have excellent communication skills - listen first, and share knowledge second.

Requirements

What You’ll Do
  • Design high-impact new features and improve existing ones to delight our families and nannies
  • Foster a design culture that builds holistic, efficient, and consistent solutions for families and nannies alike
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with the product, design and engineering teams early and often to turn our best ideas into a reality
  • Quickly identify potential risks and alternative approaches to solutions
  • Break down solutions into achievable, iterative projects
  • Help to define and nurture quality design and usability standards
  • Help build and contribute to our design system, including setting guidelines and standards for when to follow or diverge from it
  • Maintain a consistent flow of user research to understand our families and nannies better, allowing us to make evidence-based decisions with strong customer value
  • Actively mentor and support other designers through design reviews and proactive feedback
  • MUST be eligible to work in Canada and must live in Canada
Who You Are
  • A senior product designer with at least 5+ years of experience as a product / UX designer
  • Strong in UX design. You understand how to design delightful experiences with intention by applying user-centered design principles and methodologies
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping in tools, including Figma and Storybook
  • Understanding of front-end development technologies, including HTML, CSS, and React
  • Solid understanding of wireframing, interaction flows, high-fidelity mockups, and design specs
  • Hand-on experience in developing and governing a design system
  • Proven ability to define, analyze and act on success metrics for design projects
  • A passion for the why of design, as well as the what
  • Highly invested in and accountable for the customer experience. You can generate a strong level of empathy with our users and act as an advocate for their success.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, agile environment; working and shipping iteratively
  • Ability to stay focused on solving user needs and providing a best-in-class experience
  • A clear understanding of qualitative and/or quantitative research
  • Experience with planning, facilitating and drawing insights from user research and testing
  • Experience designing for mobile and responsive web while following UI and UX design best practices
  • Excellent attention to detail, maintaining design consistency while ensuring a high standard of elegance and creative solutions
  • Get the job done well - you have a high standard for the quality of your work
  • Excited about the idea of working alongside a tight-knit, cross-functional, dedicated group to make an impact
  • Strong portfolio showcasing product design work for mobile and responsive web projects

Benefits

What We Offer You
