[Hiring] Product Designer @Vitally

We're looking for a Product Designer to assist in building out our design process and best-practices. Brick-by-brick, you’ll help introduce new steps, methods, and standards to create a more mature design workflow. Your contribution will result in a fast-moving and heavy-hitting design team not commonly found in the enterprise.

You’ll partner with multiple departments and work across a many teams to advance our core product areas of productivity, visibility, and collaboration. Together, you’ll tirelessly pursue delivering true value to our customers while avoiding frivolous features. Design commands a serious influence and voice that you’ll continue to champion while shipping.

Our product is flexible like Notion, powerful like Equals, and delightful like Miro. As a designer, you’ll have the unique opportunity to build much of what you admire in other products; emoji selectors, document editors, board views, and more. It’ll be a an exciting journey forging market-specific features while applying your mark to ones you’ve experienced elsewhere.

Having just raised a $30M Series B, you’ll face many unique challenges only available being part of an industry-leading team. One such example is, as a designer, you’ll balance the complexity of scaling up newly formed teams and processes while continuing to increase our delivery-rate and overall craftsmanship.

What you’ll do:

• Contribute to the creation and execution of quarterly design objectives.
• Drive early-stage customer discovery to share your findings with stakeholders.
• Define the fastest and most valuable initial releases with meaningful fast-follows.
• Craft countless prototypes to validate product ideas and gather feedback.
• Contribute to our design system, implementation, and guidelines.
• Pair with other teams to ensure we address current and emerging needs.
• Work across a plethora of product teams and feature portfolios.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an early-to-mid career designer, to rise toward the senior level. You’ll have great freedom, with the safety of guidance and mentorship, to explore your ideas and build upon your skills. The core design process will be your initial area of focus, with continued growing responsibility. We’re growing fast, having nearly doubled in 6-months, and you’ll be a foundational member of the design team.

What you’ll need:

• 3+ years working as part of a product team, in either a B2B or B2C setting.
• Most or all of your experience is in browser-based products, as opposed to mobile.
• You have some experience talking to customers, but aren’t a research expert.
• Figma is your tool of choice, or at minimum Sketch with great file organization.
• Experience using a design system and participating as a contributor.
• Your visual design is amazing like Linear, not just good like Jira, and you know why.
• Prototyping using Principle, Origami, After Effects is a bonus, but not needed.
• Great speaking, explanatory, and storytelling skills. This is by far the most important.
• Experience pushing back, selling, and justifying controversial ideas to stakeholders.

Joining the team:

The first 30 days
You’ll focus on learning everything you can about our market, customers, and product. We want you to become as knowledgable as possible and concentrated on an education ramp-up.

The first 3 months
You’ll begin to participate in your first few projects and ship smaller features and enhancements. We want you to gain your footing as a designer prepping for larger contribution.

3 months onward
You’ll have the knowledge and confidence to begin breaking away to work more independently with your collaborators and teams..
