As a Principal Experience Designer, your mandate is to help lead our design team to create delightful, powerful, and transformative experiences. This position will play a pivotal role in defining innovative ways to help people achieve balance in how they spend, save, and grow their money by designing a world-class experience that embraces ONE’s mission and brand. This role will report directly to the Experience Design Lead. 

This role is responsible for: 

• Working across the studio with other designers and creatives to develop, refine, and iterate on new and existing experiences.

• Partnering closely with your cross-functional colleagues, and with the customer experience always in mind, you will ensure we deliver only the highest quality work.

• Working autonomously and focusing on people’s needs and emotions along their path to financial well-being.

• Building strong and compelling user stories, information architecture, data visualization, and interaction designs that support the end-to-end product lifecycle.

• Mentoring other designers, growing the understanding of our discipline within the company, and helping us grow ONE’s overall design culture.

• Additional duties as assigned by your manager.

• 10+ years of professional experience designing detailed, thought-provoking, and informative digital experiences.

• An act-like-an-owner mentality. We have a bias toward taking action.

• A strong portfolio that demonstrates compelling interactive design work showcasing a perspective on your creative process and aesthetics.

• Proven experience collaborating with cross-functional teams delivering high-quality work while advocating for design, brand, research, and user experience continuity.

• Expert knowledge in experience design, in addition to proficiencies in one or more of the following software applications: Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma, Principle, Xcode, and Cinema 4D.

• Expert ability to create innovative concepts via prototypes, storyboards, animations, and other visual mediums.

• A track record of shipping digital products.

• Comfort in ambiguity, risk, and working within constraints.

• Genuine passion for design, and building products that people want and will use.

• Expert ability to pivot through creative problem-solving.

• Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in HCI, Graphic Design, Media Arts, or similar is a plus.

The estimated annual base salary for this position ranges from $200,000 to $215,000. Pay is generally based upon the level, complexity, responsibility, and job duties/requirements of the specific position. In order to thoughtfully scale the company and avoid downstream inequities, we’ve adopted a flat titling structure at ONE. Though we may occasionally post a role externally with a prefix such as “Senior” to reflect the external level of the position, we do not use prefixes in titles like that internally unless in a position which manages a team. Internal titles typically include your specific functional responsibility, such as engineering, product management or sales, and often include additional descriptors to ensure clarity of role and placement within our organization (i.e. “Engineer, Platform”, “Sales, Business Development” or “Manager, Talent”). Employees are paid commensurate with their experience and the internal level within ONE.
