About you

As an Interaction Designer at Viable Data, you will be someone who can adapt quickly and easily to the flexible needs of our Central Government and other Public Sector customers. You will join one of our high-performing consulting teams where you will play a pivotal role in designing & delivering exceptional digital products and services that directly contribute to UK policy, economic growth and security.

This role is largely remote with essnetial busienss travel only.

This role would suit someone from an Interaction Designer background in a UCD team that has an interest in Service Design functions with flexibility in performing more UCD based functions with exposure to Service Design that will expand and grow your skills.

Due to the nature of work, you must be willing to undergo and be capable of achieving SC clearance and be a UK resident.

Requirements

Key responsibilities

• Work out the best way to let users interact with services, in terms of both overall flow and at the level of individual design elements.
• Create designs that are accessible and consistent with GDS standards
• Work as part of a wider UCD team to research, design, build, and test user-centred products and services
• Participate in research and design-related activities, workshops, presentations and discussions
  • Work with relevant stakeholders and subject matter experts to advocate for user-centred design and check that content is relevant and correct
  • Work with other designers and user researchers to create and iterate prototypes to test and communicate design concepts and user journeys
  • Focus on outcomes rather than solutions and activities
  • Use technical knowledge and experience to create workable prototypes

Skills and experience needed

• Demonstrable relevant industry experience
• Strong digital perspective enabling you to understand how the digital economy is changing and how this might influence user behaviour
• Ability to prototype in code as well as low/no-code applications
• Use analytics, feedback and research to inform design decisions
• People skills – empathetic, great listener and have a natural curiosity to understand people, their motivations and thought processes
  • Experience and understanding of a range of User Centred Design practices
  • Organisation, time management and collaboration skills
