Graphic Design Intern

POGO's Creative Team is looking for an intern interested in learning how visual story-telling can be an indispensable tool in the fight to investigate and expose waste, corruption, and abuse of power within the government. 

Opportunities for learning and professional development: 

• Learn and develop design skills as you collaborate with the creative team 
• Hands-on experience with editorial work 
• Develop communications skills with designers and other stakeholders 
• Learn how to manage a project from brainstorming to print 
• Gain real-world experience portfolio pieces 

Responsibilities include: 

• Collaborate with the creative team and other stakeholders on print and digital products, such as editorial illustrations, share graphics, infographics, and direct mail  
• Develop compelling visuals for digital and print products 
• Develop concepts and designs with a justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion lens in mind 
• Assist with asset research 
• Other relevant tasks, duties, or special projects as required 

Qualifications: 

• Current student   
• An interest in good government and a commitment to non-partisanship 
• Experience being a creative problem-solver with a collaborative spirit 
• Ability to successfully receive and respond to critical direction 
• Portfolio demonstrating an understanding of aesthetic quality, visual fundamentals, and attention to detail 
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
• Ability to show empathy and respect in all aspects of internal and external communication 
• Access to a computer capable of using and installing Adobe Creative Cloud, and access to reliable internet and phone connections during work hours. 
• Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) 
• Availability during POGO's core working hours in the Eastern Time Zone.   

The design internship is remote and requires a commitment of 30 hours per week during normal office hours EST. We offer compensation ($17/hour) to interns who cannot receive school credit or outside funding for their internship experience. 

While POGO will work with an individual's time restrictions, we ask that there is a minimum commitment of three months. Traditionally we have only accepted full-time interns, but if you can't commit to full-time, please include in your cover letter why we should make an exception for you. 

Start and end dates are flexible.
