Educational Instructional Designer

Jala University offers bachelor's degree programs in computer science only on a scholarship basis.

Responsabilities:

• Applying relevant learning theory and instructional theory necessary for excellent online course design and implementation.
• Working from a design template for courses, utilizing established course design principles.
• Applying relevant learning theory and instructional theory necessary for excellent online course design and implementation.
• Assisting subject matter experts in translating content knowledge into an online course design map leading to the final product of an online course that aligns student work with course-, program-, and institution-level learning outcomes.
• Appraising course creation quality in terms of design, writing, editing; identifying and providing corrective action or feedback when needed to better align with the Quality Matters program and rubric.
• Managing the development of online courses from conceptualization through production, including building and maintaining productive work relationships with subject-matter experts, instructors, and other academic stakeholders.
• Developing and communicating design and production schedules.
• Serving as project manager to ensure that the product meets specifications, stays on budget, and is delivered on time.
• Assisting subject matter experts and instructors in navigating the learning management system in order to understand content application.
• Managing and completing all phases of the design process, including file uploads and use of instructional technology applications as needed.
• Overseeing course design revisions and product improvements in existing courses.
• Remaining current and have a thorough understanding of the latest industry technology tools and trends in online education.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Recent Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology or Instructional Technology
• 3 to 5 years of demonstrated Instructional Design work
• 2 to 3 years of direct work experience in Instructional Design with Canvas LMS
• Project Management Experience
• Higher Education work experience
• Excellent communication skills
• Support and collaborate with subject-matter experts to upload course content
• Can show portfolio of past LMS work, including Canvas LMS design
• Ability to work independently
• Technical Writing and technical editing skills
• Excellent project management skills.
• Portfolio of work or demo of LMS work in Canvas required.
• Experience working with subject matter experts to produce a product ready for delivery, including the ability to work effectively with faculty.
• Two to Three years of direct design work with Canvas.
  
• Two to three years’ direct work experience in instructional design and revision, including designing online courses and creating courses in a learning management system, preferably at the graduate level.
